Things To Consider Doing Before Putting Your RV Into Storage For The Winter

Posted on

If you have an RV that you do not use for a certain amount of time during the year, such as during the winter, you might want to place it in an RV storage facility. However, before you do just that, you are going to want to make sure that you are doing a few things. This will help ensure that your RV is properly protected while it is stored away and that you will have an easier time getting it back on the road when that time comes. Here are some of the things you will want to consider doing.

Complete A Thorough Cleaning Of The RV

You will want to make sure that you are not only hosing off the exterior of the RV to get all the road dirt and grime off of it but that you are also thoroughly cleaning out the inside of the RV. All food and food crumbs need to be wiped up and vacuumed out. This is to make sure that mice are not going to sniff out your RV as a place that they should chew their way into to call home.

Take The Tires Off If Possible

If at all possible, you will want to have your RV stored on blocks so the tires can be removed and set off to the side. This will protect the condition of the tires so they can be ready for use once you are ready to take the RV out of storage for the season. If this is not something that you are able to do, you will want to try to go to the RV storage facility at least once every couple of weeks to move the RV a little. This will rotate the tires so that the entire weight of the RV is not always resting on one part of the tires.

With those tips in mind, you should find it much easier to get your RV ready for storage. You will want to make sure that it is well cleaned and that all food and crumbs are removed from the RV so you will not have to worry about mice being attracted to your recreational vehicle. Also, have the RV put on blocks if possible once you pull it into the RV storage. This way, you can remove the tires so they will be in good shape once summer rolls around. Find a suitable RV storage facility as soon as you can and get your RV put away.
