		<description>Kia ora koutou
Resolution 3 has generated a lot of debate - which is the very reason why the Rongowhakaata Negotiators, the Rongowhakaata Claims Committee and the Rongowhakaata Iwi Trust put this specific issue to all registered members to provide direction. This debate is good.
I would like to make it clear that all resources that go in to Turanga Group Holdings Limited (the commercial property arm for Rongowhakaata and Te Aitanga a Mahaki &amp; Affiliates) will be used to acquire land. But Turanga Group Holdings Limited focus is on developing and investing in land by Watson Park (AML - former abbatoirs) and land in the Central Business District (Gisborne City). The $3m on account payment would go in to upgrading the current properties, purchasing the Gisborne Court House land (and leasing from the Ministry of Justice) and purchasing the Manutuke School land (and leasing from the Ministry of Justice). The big difference is that through option 1, Rongowhakaata will own the land exclusively and receive a lower financial return. Through the 2nd option, Rongowhakaata will own half the land (including half the Te Aitanga a Mahaki &amp; Affiliates properties) with a higher financial return.
Both options are focussed on land acquisition and the management of that land.
Please do not hesitate to contact me (021768462) or Stan Pardoe (0274302199) should you have any further queries. Or join us at hui in Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
I want to make it clear, that I support either option. This is merely about a clear steer being provided by the descendants of Rongowhakaata.

<description>Kia ora tatou nga uri o Rongowhakaata

Hui-a-iwi yesterday - important information with regard to the Deed of Settlement, more importantly Resolution 3 - you are asked to make a choice between two boxes - both boxes talking about financial investment and return.

Part of our cultural redress was a offer from the Crown that they will buy a 115ha block - Opou-Pipiwhaakao located off Papatu Road (korero in booklet) and give us $3million cash to assist in the purchase of further land. Not much considering how much we lost through confiscation - but to me at least we can say that we are no longer LANDLESS - I&#039;m not fussed whether it can return lots of cash - so long as it pays its own bills, although an explanation given by Stan that the percentage of return could be at least twice as much using other farming strategies than presently used (so the figures aren&#039;t that flash either). neither am I fussed that it can be proned to flooding - once that water goes we have land left in its place. A TICK IN THIS BLOCK MEANS WE KEEP THE LAND AND THE MONEY WILL BE USED TO BUY MORE LAND - MANA WHENUA

BUT I am very fussed when it comes to the bottom box - which is saying that a tick here will mean that the land will bed sold and along with the $3million will be put into the Business arm and invested elsewhere. RISKY!! We seem to have Wall Street in Manutuke.
MANA PUTEA

RESOLUTION 3 OF THE DEED OF SETTLEMENT - TICK THE TOP BOX TO KEEP THE LAND
MANA WHENUA MANA TANGANTA MANA WAIRUA - MANA MAORI MOTUHAKE
